It is well-known that the anti-inflammatory effects of rosehips are related to the level and the composition of the polyphenols that belong to the group of bioflavonoids.
It is well-known that the anti-inflammatory effects of rosehip powder are related to rosehip polyphenols. Accumulating research suggest that the active compounds in rosehip belong to the flavonol group, predominantly as quercetin and kaempferol types of flavonols.
AP-4 rosehips in SUKOFLEX® have, compared to other rosehips, the highest content of bioflavonoids.
How cultivation methods can increase the levels of bioflavonoids

AP-4 variety: In a research project, rosehips collected form the mountain area in Chile were analysed for their content of ingredients, fruit size and flavour intensity. The Rosa canina AP-4 variety was selected among over hundred collected plants.
Organic cultivation: No use of fertilizers or plant protection remedies will increase the plant own defence compounds, mainly bioflavonoids.
Micro-climate: The south of Chile provides a micro-climate with high sun intensity and cool nights that is optimal for the cultivation of rosehips with colourful and flavour-intense fruits. The cool nights preserve the content of bioflavonoids.
Soil: By minimizing vegetative growth in a low-nutritious soil, a “stress-induced” fruits production can be achieved to optimize content of bioflavonoid defence compounds.
